ハロウィン・エピソード（２）

お化けカボチャ
日本でのハロウィンは仮装パーティーのようなもので、娘が小さな時に、お友達とパーティーをしたことがありました。小学校入学前に英語教室に通っていたことも影響していたのかもしれません。
元来ハロウィンは収穫祭の一面を持つ死者が蘇るというアイルランドやスコットランドの宗教的な休日で、それが移民によって米国に広がり、カナダや南米、オーストラリア・・・そして日本にも・・・いつもそうですが、大抵コマーシャルベースといっしょに到達して、クリスマスやバレンタインと同じように浸透してきました。
考えてみると、ハロウィンはまだ知らなかった頃だと思いますが、ディズニーの「首なし騎士の伝説」のこの歌のシーンが好きでした。（2から3のつなぎ目）本当の題は知りませんが「ミッドナイト・ジャンボリー」というこの曲は、怖い話にもかかわらず、スイング・ジャズのリズムの良さに妙に心を捕えられてしまったのです。知らないうちに異教のお祭りを楽しむ下地が出来て行ったのでしょうか・・・。
米国にしても、19世紀以前にはハロウィンは休日ではありませんでした。1845年から数年続いたアイルランドのじゃがいもの大凶作から多くの移民が米国に流入して、その後広まった文化だそうです。
