Blue Canary
ダイナ・ショア（Dinah Shore）は、ちょうど私が生まれた頃に流行っていた「青いカナリヤ」を歌っていたアメリカの歌手だということは後から知りました。最近「Twitter」で思い浮かぶのはこの歌の歌詞と漫画（Cartoon animation）のシルヴェスター（Sylvester）とトゥイーティー（Tweety）です。私は猫好きなのでシルベスタのキャラが気に入っていたのですけどね。
ところで、カナリヤといえば一般的には黄色ですが、日本では歌詞の「Blue」が青いと訳されたので、青い鳥を思い浮かべる人も多そうです。本当は「寂しい」のブルーなんですが、外国語なので詩の意味よりはイメージで「幸せの青い鳥」とも重なっているからでしょうか・・・。
ダイナ・ショアはご本家ですが、雪村いづみが17歳の時に歌っている声が透明に澄んでいて・・・改めて惹かれます。今のAKB48の年齢なのに・・・と比べてしまいました。

『あなたが「青いカナリヤ」を懐かしいように、今の子もいずれは昔好きだった歌を懐かしむでしょうね』と言われました。
きっとそれはそうなのだろうと思いますが、そうではなくて、当時まだ物心つかない私にとっては、昔流行った多くのヒット曲のひとつに過ぎなかったこの曲に、今現在驚嘆しているのです。そして、このようなことが今の子にあるだろうか・・・と考えていました・・・。
